[Music] hey what's up everyone hope you're all having an amazing day my name is jazzy singh and i'm a management accountant attend business consulting helping leaders and businesses level up also i'm a commercial helicopter pilot in training almost everyone who i've told this to have asked how do you become a commercial helicopter pilot here in australia so i thought i'll jump on here and share some of the insights that you may find helpful you know what we'll do even one better i'll take you on one of my training flights and i'll also talk you through how to become a commercial helicopter pilot here in australia welcome to the flight everyone will be taking off from moorabbin airport yankee mike mike bravo and going to the training area to practice this symmetry of lift friction off increase rpm slowly to 90 percent governor on yeah governor he's on sure you get your intentions uh [Music] cherry quebec [Music] so to become a commercial helicopter pilot in australia you'll have to follow the casa guidelines casa is civil aviation safety authority here in australia i'll be sharing some useful links in the description below that i'll be referring to in this video i'd encourage you to go check out these links after you've watched the video till the end so you know what to look for on those links before you'll do anything you'll need a casa arn number that is aviation reference number simply put arn number is your account or customer number with casa once you have the arn number you will need to find a school with a good reputation who can facilitate your training there are no requirements for learning to fly other than the minimum age of 16 years but you will need a medical certificate before your first solo flight now this is highly encouraged to get your medical certificate before the start of your training you never want to get to your first solo flight only to be told your medical did not pass i've heard of an instance where someone was about 30 hours into their flight training only to find out they had heart palpitations and didn't pass the medical for their solo this person was not going to become a pilot it's heartbreaking as it is and to find out that you're also not healthy so it's important to know sooner than later about your health so you can get appropriate treatment and attention for it okay moving on once you've started your training you will need to get a class 1 medical certificate for a commercial pilot here is what i had to do to get my class 1 medical certificate i can share my experience with you and pass on some useful tips first find a local dame in your area daim is a designated aviation medical examiner you can find one on cass's website i'll put the link below with other useful links if you want to check them out before you make an appointment with dame remember to register on casa mrs that's medical record system this will cost you 75 dollars if you did not register for casa mrs your dame will not be able to submit your medical results to casa and also you may end up at your medical appointment only to be told that you don't have mrs application which means they may make you feel one in there if they have a computer available it's quite finicky trying to fill it up from your phone i've checked out the website it's not very mobile friendly so highly highly encourage you to get this done before you go to your appointment the next thing is studying and exams for both helicopter and aeroplane cpl exam you will have to study and pass seven exams that are navigation meteorology human factors flight rules and air laws aerodynamics aircraft general knowledge operations performance and flight planning the cost of study materials varies there are options for physical printed books learning or online learning i haven't signed up to any yet but i'm leaning towards online learning because i prefer that and if you're just starting out you can access a lot of resources online at various different outlets so if you're just starting out and sussing it out what's involved i'll highly encourage you to look through some of the free resources that are available to you online anyways hope that was helpful guys if you're interested to learn more or interested to follow my journey through a helicopter commercial pilot license please consider subscribing and if you've got any value out of it please give it a little like and a comment it really helps us out and keeps us motivated to bring you more content like this thanks again for coming on this flight with us and i'll see you next time [Music] [Applause] [Music] you
