How to get an FAA Medical Certificate | Flight School 101
[Music] hi guys welcome to my channel today in this video you will be able to understand differences among medical certificates and how to get your fa medical certificate all right let's begin so first of all let's decide which medical certificate you want to apply there are three different classes of medical certificates first second and third class and of course there is a basing med as well but i will go over basic mat in a separate video all right first class medical is required when you fly as an air transport pilot and the second class is for commercial pilot and the third class is for student pollen and private pilot every medical certificate has a different duration as you can see right here if this is your first time to apply for a medical certificate and you are planning to become an airline pilot in the future i recommend to get a first class medical to make sure that you are eligible to get the medical certificate before you invest all right so in order to find ames you can just simply go on to fa's website which is fa.gov and then as you can see you could click licenses and certificates and then you can click medical certification so just read through all the information right here and you can see this located on ame so we're going to click that and then you can see find it an aviation medical examiner amy search for an aviation medical examiner a and me in your area so it's gonna click that and here you have to select what kind of disk need types and you're going to go click ame and now you have to choose either location or the certain doctor but most of cases that the students need to find the am is in their area so we're gonna click location search so now you can put you know city county state etc so here i could put petersburg and um also you can select either if you want like a first class ame because you know sometimes the ames cannot do all of the uh medical certificates so you have to make sure that which certificate you're gonna go for so i'm gonna click first class ame and click search all right so now i could see there are three doctors in my city gatorsburg and that's where my home base the airport is as you can see their names and then location and a county city name and then most importantly phone number and also there is a class type which means you know they could um give you a medical certificate up to this class so all of them can do first class okay so uh this is how you search for your ame and you can also search for your ames in your home country if you are from overseas so just simply you can just change the information right here i search by the city name but i could just simply change the location here so for example maybe i could find um you know an ame in south korea so i'm just gonna click korea self and then search let's see what they have here they have a few um doctors in korea as you can see their names you can check their names here and addresses and that way you can see their liking locations as well and then also they have their phone number right here so that you can make an appointment okay so this is how you can locate your amis in your area so um after you get an appointment with an ame in your area the next step you're gonna have to do is you're gonna get your fa med express so you could everything is online nowadays so it's so simple and easy so you could just go onto this website medexpress.fa.gov i will also leave this um in the link below in the detailed box so you can just go into this website and then um if you're a first user probably you're gonna have to request an account first but if you already had um fa medical certificate in the past you can just exit you are already an existing user and you can just simply log in here um even if you forgot your password the you know resetting the password process is pretty simple so you don't have to worry about that actually just in order to make this video it has been a couple of years since i did my medical so i had to get my password as well i had to reset it and it was very simple and easy to do so all right so let's um log in when you log in the first page is going to be the you know about their terms of service um agreement and privacy statement um you have to just read through about all the information about their terms and the privacy statement and then you're gonna click i have read and accept the terms of service agreement and privacy statement and then you're gonna click submit all right so and after that um you can just start your new application right here and they're gonna ask you why are you applying for a medical certificate or clearance um so most of cases like here you know the students most of our students will need the medical certificate for their training so you're going to just click all other because it's not required for your employment so you're going to click all other and click next and then you're going to see pilots bill of rights written notification make sure to read all this information and then agree all right so you go on to the next page and then as you can see you are going to see all the like steps you're going to you're going to do general and prior certification medication medical history basically they need to know like you know what kind of you know medical history you have had enough so far in order to issue a new medical certificate for faa so basically you're going to just stop click step by step and then you're going to answer all of the questionnaires and then at the end of the questionnaires you're going to get a confirmation number and then you're going to need the confirmation of also there's confirmation page as well if you can just print it out that'd be great but most of the doctors offices that i've been to ams office they didn't really require that confirmation page they only need the confirmation number at the end so you can just write it down somewhere some safe and then you can bring it with you on the day of your appointment um so i i'm not gonna really get into every step for this page because you know it's pretty straightforward and then it's pretty simple as well so if you guys
