You Got a Pilot License, NOW WHAT?

Hey guys! What's up! Jon here from Fly8ma.com and today we're gonna be talking about what you can do after you get your
private pilot's license. So once you get a pilot's license, or even as a student
pilot, you want to go do some fun stuff with an instructor what can you actually
do to put that license put that certificate to use for you. So today we're gonna go ahead and look
at what it takes to go ahead and take some photos in an airplane. So if you
want to go do a little photo shoot, maybe take some pictures of your house, or
friend's house, or some buildings, or downtown.

How can you do
that, especially when that downtown area lies right underneath a class Charlie
shelf borderline right into the class Charlie's surface air space around
Sarasota Airport. So we're gonna be looking at Sarasota today We're gonna go
ahead and take some pictures of downtown right there underlying the class Charlie
airspace in within the actual class earlier space right next to the airport
there. So we'll go ahead and talk to approach, maybe talk to tower if they
want us to, let's go ahead and take a look at how we do it.

S we took off out
of Venice we're approaching from the south we're about 15 miles or so south
by the time we go ahead and get the ATIS, get the information for the airport and
figure out which runways are using what all is going on at the airport and then
go ahead and tune in Tampa approach that controls the Sarasota
Charlie airspace and go ahead and get ahold of them.

Transmitting and receiving com one. And you're
about 15 miles south of sarasota. You have information whiskey and we
want to go ahead and go down Soto so it's going to be tamp approach echo

above the highest op school populated and then 500 feet vehicle or vessel a
person when you're in an unpopulated area I literally hate talking to the public my bad sorry yeah they're like
alright we get it and they get it yeah you don't even have to include all that
you can I mean they understand you know people aren't perfect
yeah phraseology won't be perfect this comes in time that was first you want to

the helicopters just passing right underneath us I live I don't see em

picture so let's go ahead and tell them that we are going to go ahead depart the
area back southbound okay and he'll probably ask if you want fight ball you
can tell them I'll go it without flight following so negative flight following
will go at 1,000 feet below a thousand people Oh a thousand feet and below what
that was yeah so you can tell we're departing the area southbound all right campus approach warrior eight seven
eight six echo we are going southbound reflective Venice thank you that's it
yeah he'll come back and tell you at some point here he'll say you can go
ahead and squawk VFR freak machine is approved so exactly in twisting 1200
well he's still talking to us because we're still in his airspace technically
and this is a good altitude yeah yeah well hang right around 11 told her feet
here cross all over all these houses and we can go down to a thousand below okay
I was thinking he might ask us what else to do we wanted to go at and cut us
loose if we told him a thousand went below so we'd be out of his airspace so
it looks like he wants to talk to us for a little longer yeah I really love this
plane it's like thirty just really love it so that's pretty much all there is to
it to go out and do some photography work when you're flying in Class C
airspace or a Class D airspace even for that matter just contacting the tower
tell him exactly what you want to deal him ill you have a request and then
specify that request with what it is you want to do try to use notable landmarks
or a distance from the airport that you're going to be as well as what else
you want to go out to really define that block of airspace you want to work in in
once they come back and say what is your request talk to him like a normal person
just explain to them exactly what it is that you're wanting to do let us know in
